Ever wondered why some coffee makes you pause and smile… and some just doesn’t?
Maybe you’ve tried making espresso at home, but it’s a little bitter, a bit flat, or never quite the same twice. It’s not about luck — it’s about understanding the coffee in your hands.
Now imagine pulling a perfect shot every time — rich, balanced, and full of flavour — and knowing exactly how you made it happen (and how to fix it if something goes wrong). That’s exactly what this class is about.
In Lesson 1: Barista Training Essentials, we spend 2.5 hours together — focusing exclusively on espresso, no milk steaming yet (that comes later in Advanced Barista Training). We start with an hour of coffee theory — from origin to bean behavior — because knowing your coffee is the first step to making it sing. Then we roll up our sleeves and get hands-on, learning how to spot mistakes, adjust, and create something consistently exceptional.
You can choose from:
One-on-One: Private session $295 — fully personalised, just you and me.
Tandem: Two people $330 / $165 per person — bring a buddy and learn side-by-side for a combined fee of $330. This covers both students, and bookings must be made together. (Sorry, individual half-price bookings aren’t available.)
Everything is included — beans, equipment, notebook — plus a 200g bag of Ffocee coffee to take home and keep practising. We meet in Luggate, with class times set to suit your schedule — preferably on Mondays, Thursdays, or Fridays for the best experience.
If you want a fun, relaxed, and confidence-boosting way to step into the barista world, this is your perfect starting point.
Join me, and let’s make coffee you can’t wait to share.
Meet Your Trainer - Jana Kettnerova
I’ve been in the coffee industry for over a decade, bringing together rich coffee cultures from Europe, Canada, and New Zealand. My journey has taken me through roles as a barista, head barista, barista trainer, and now a coffee roaster.
I’m also certified in Q Cupping Essentials from the Coffee Quality Institute, which means I understand coffee quality from the bean to the cup.
I’m passionate about sharing this knowledge in an approachable and fun way, helping you build confidence and skill to craft coffee you love. More than that, I want to inspire you to fall in love with all things coffee — the stories, the science, and the simple joy of a great cup.
